First-hand Speaker Experience
Heather is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and has worked for over 25 years in primary and secondary care services with patients with Long Term Medical Conditions. She started work as a clinical psychologist at the Royal Free Hospital working with patient and families affected by HIV/AIDS and then went on to a general medical post at Northwick Park Hospital for the next 20 years. She is now the Lead in Clinical Health Psychology for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (Oxfordshire) and is developing the IAPT service work with people with Long-term medical conditions.
She is a BABCP accredited CBT therapist, supervisor and trainer and was the IAPT PWP Course Director at the University of Reading and external examiner for the UCL PWP Post-graduate Diploma course, for the first three years of the courses being set up. She has also been a senior lecturer at Royal Holloway University on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Course.
Heather has been providing clinical training and supervision for the IAPT Step 2 & 3 workers, the Clinical Health Psychology Step 4 workers and the Step 1 cardiac nurses & exercise physiologists for the Heart2Heart Project. This project was recently short-listed for an HSJ award.
